只要是玩家，每次去到日本都会想要朝圣一下秋叶原、日本桥区域看看周边跟游戏中心，也就是许多心中的游戏日本，但根据日本帝国数据银行的财务报告显示，这10 年来的街机游戏中心大幅减少近8000 家，从疫情前就已经开始有相当大幅度的下降，更受到疫情、税金与电费的三重冲击。

根据日本帝国数据银行(帝国データバンク)报告显示，上个财政年有18 家游戏街机中心企业破产，这是五年来最高的数字，而且是第二年连续增加，这十年间的游戏中心店铺数包括转手售出与破产多达8000 家，五年间减少30% 总数，而游戏内容也从街机移至夹娃娃机为主。

根据日本游艺产业协会报告显示，虽然已经开始慢慢摆脱了21 年开始的疫情损失状况，但是消费税、硬币兑换手续以及电费的上涨，让这个原本就相当薄利的产业难以站稳，每100 日圆的营业额只能赚到净利6 日圆，2022 年SEGA 也将旗下实体街机中心全数易手给GIGO 集团，这个从昭和时代开始受到年轻人支持的产业如何转变与维持如今受到不小的考验。
